Why a Copy of Super Mario Bros on NES Sold for $100,150

Wow, this is my first ever attempt at making a video about “news” — not something I plan to do often AT ALL, but I thought this was actually kind of an interesting story where there’s more to it than meets the eye!

I had the day off, and somehow I managed to turn a video around in 24 hours. Definitely a personal record, but probably only applicable to news format type videos unfortunately…research makes everything else take a heck of a lot longer!
Anyways, there’s more stuff in the works but I hope you enjoy this!

Game & Watch Stories – Game History Micro: Episode 1

Introducing a new series: Game History Micro! Rather than always overloading you with a complete history, I wanted to mix it up and try a new format where I could talk about some of a subject’s most interesting stories.

From Kelsey: I really enjoyed making my first video in this format — it’s still history-focused, but it’s not quite as demanding as the usual deep dives on obscure stuff. (Don’t worry — that stuff isn’t going away, either!)
Please let me know what you think!

Staying With Power: 35 Years of NES History – PRGE Museum Tour

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE VIDEO GAME HISTORY FOUNDATION:
https://gamehistory.org/

Helping plan and curate the museum at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo was one of my favorite things I’ve done this year. This video is the guided tour that we never quite got to give — with lots of history and extra information. I also included a bit about our planning process and challenges we faced at the end if that sort of thing interests you. Thank you so much for watching!

Special thanks to all of the VGHF and PRGE volunteers and donors! 100% could not have done it without you. Of course also a huge thank you to John Hancock for providing his collection for display in the museum.

Nintendo Meets Diabetes Care: The History of the Glucoboy and Didget Blood Glucose Monitors

Whew! This was an incredible video to make with lots of surprises along the way. I’m really happy I got the opportunity to get some interviews in as it helped bridge some gaps in the Glucoboy’s timeline. There’s actually a ton of slightly incorrect information out there (especially in regards to dates) and some confusing info with places reporting about the Glucoboy “coming soon” in the US as early as 2003. Regardless, I did a ton of work researching this so I’m confident in what I’m presenting.

ALSO, I’m very much excited to show off, for the first time, developer builds of Glucoboy in this video! Still hoping to find an actual Glucoboy or completed Glucoboy ROM for preservation, but this is a great start. Both Paul Wessel and Brad Butler are lovely, sincere people who you can tell really cared about this project, so I’m thrilled to share it with the world. Anyways, please enjoy!

5 Things You Didn’t Know About The First Animal Crossing Game!

I know this is a short-and-sweet video but DON’T WORRY! This isn’t replacing my “usual” content! I have another exciting video in the works but I wanted to make sure I could get something out before the end of the month.
These facts come from two 2001 interviews in Japanese Magazine Nintendo Dream and as far as I can tell, have not been reported on in English! Happy to bring you some “new” information from a rare look into the development process.
