Nova Collective performs “Dancing Machines” from their debut album “The Further Side.”
Nova Collective began in 2014 when bassist Dan Briggs (Between the Buried and Me, Trioscapes) and guitarist Richard Henshall (Haken) began exchanging emails about music; before long, a few demos were fleshed out into full arrangements. Drummer Matt Lynch (Trioscapes, Cynic) and keyboardist Pete Jones (ex-Haken) came on board shortly after to finish writing the album. The Further Side was written on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, with Briggs and Lynch in America and Henshall and Jones in England, sharing session files until the group could get together at the beginning of 2015 to record with engineer Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, The Contortionist). Mixed by Rich Mouser (Neal Morse, Transatlantic), it is immediately
clear that The Further Side is a labor of love for all involved, and that enthusiasm shines throughout.
The 1980s were a GLORIOUS time for rock and metal…but you may have missed some excellent albums from that era. Have no fear: Metal Jesus & Andrew talk about some of the more under-rated metal albums and you can listen to those songs here:

Guitar god shredder 331Erock takes on John Petrucci of Dream Theater: “Well, had to sit down for this one haha. The top comment on the last solo challenge video was “Dream Theater”. That narrowed it down pretty much haha. The 2 that were mentioned the most were “Stream of Consciousness” and this one. I learned “As I Am” and SOC off of Train of Thought somewhat before so I decided to go with the one I never touched. Hope I showed a sloppy tribute to JP’s nastiness :P”

I would love to hear your opinion on what is best – vinyl, cd, streaming or maybe high-res audio (like HD-tracks). And about what you use and how?
Reese Riverson asks:
What turn table would you recommend to buy for those who don’t have a very good one or wish to get one to start collecting or expand upon their vinyl collection?

This is not 8bit chip tunes but real instruments played like a real digital album. It is the results of several people overcoming technical challenges and in this video we talk about the making of it.
